Park Bench Cinema: Almost Grand
A project by Betsey Biggs
Who wants to sit inside a movie theater on a sunny September afternoon? Why not bring the cinematic experience outside? Park Bench Cinema consists of a series of downloadable soundscapes meant to work with the ambient sonic and visual environment to create intense filmic experiences in very specific public locations.
Right-click (or control-click) to download the mp3 here
If you don't have an mp3 player, feel free to bring a portable CD player with headphones and I'll supply you with CDs; if you can't get your hands on any of the above, please contact me with your phone/email and we'll figure something out.

Almost Grand is the first in a series of Park Bench Cinema projects – musical cinematic dreams for specific times and places: in this case, a walk down Williamsburg’s Grand Street to the East River, forty-five minutes before sunset.
We’ll meet at Conflux headquarters and press play at the same time, then head down Grand Street all the way to the water (about a fifteen minute walk), where we’ll sit on park benches and rocks as we engage with the cinematic dreamscape. Park Bench Cinema will heighten our senses and our connection with the sights and sounds around us, through a soundtrack made primarily with recordings from the area itself.
Anyone is free to engage in this walk/sit anytime, of course. Forty-five minutes before sunset on a clear day is suggested for maximal synchronicity.
And please... comment below. I am very interested in your experiences, thoughts, ideas.
